The Gift of Constraints

How do you feel about constraintsโ“

You know, ๐Ÿ‘‰ the limits of scope, time, budget, regulations, funding, technical feasibility, current capabilities etc.

Does it conjure up knit brows ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จโ€‹, eye rolls ๐Ÿ™„โ€‹, and clenched fists ๐Ÿ‘Šโ€‹? Do you see it as something to accept, overcome, and/or comply with?

What if, we responded with lifted brows ๐Ÿคจ, a sparkle in our eyes ๐Ÿคฉโ€‹, and open hands ๐Ÿ‘โ€‹? What if, we saw it as a challenge to which to apply our human ingenuity and creativity - to create the desired impact and value in the most efficient and effective way?

๐Ÿ’ซโ€‹ That is the vision and challenge proposed by Kate Raworth of Doughnut Economics. Only in this case, she asks us to look beyond the constraints and responsibilities of projects and quarterly results to how we might operate our organizations in a world of "real" limits and responsibilities - within the doughnut of our social and planetary boundaries - for the impact that really matters!

A REGENERATIVE AND DISTRIBUTED ECONOMY

AND

A SAFE AND JUST PLACE FOR HUMANITY
